My DH dug a hand opperated grinder out of the barn a week ago and showed the neighborhood kids how to use. Scoop a coffee can of corn into the hopper then turn the wheel by hand, the ground corn goes into a bucket then into a bin. I figured it was a novelty that would wear off quickly and we would be right back to using the motorized version in just a few days. Yesterday the line of 6 to 10 yr old boys was eight deep. This morning I was told by my neighbor that her kid has to get 100% on weekly spelling tests or he won't be allowed to grind corn...Wednesday's test was the first perfect one in a year and he is now working on his words for next Wednesday because he doesn't want to loose the privilege of working the grinder.
Thinking I'll get my fence white washed next spring.

How heart warming is that? LOVE this story, thanks SO much for sharing!

I still say we need to get this country back to the days when events like this were the norm, not the exception. Someday, maybe.....
