Anybody else sad to lose these guys both in one week? Told my father they were my two favorite old white guys, other than him.

    Two greats gone.

Absolutely! I've got all of Tony Hillerman's Joe Leaphorn/Jim Chee mysteries and "Hard Times" is one of my faves too. Definitely a huge loss to the literary world.

I know who Tony Hillerman is and I have always loved his books. Who is Studs Terkel? Pardon my ignorance.

I could rhapsodize about him, but Wikipedia will do a far better job than I could. What could be a better gift, as winter approaches, than a new writer t read?! And so glad there are other Hillerman fans out there.

Quote:me too.............. We lived in Flagstaff for awhile (13 years) and Tony Hillerman's books were a great introduction to the Navajo culture, plus they are fun to read!
