I've just discovered that one of my young hens is setting a clutch of eggs in a big dog house on my place. Today is very chilly with high winds, but temps are getting in the 30s and 40s here generally. She's just begun, I think, so we probably have a couple of weeks at least before the chicks hatch.
Will it be too cold for the new chicks if daytime temps are in the 40s when they hatch? Should I keep a close eye and move them into a brooder when they do hatch? Or do you think they'll be o.k.?
