My dad came up for supper tonight. I was telling him about what my chickens had to eat today (tuna salad, mashed banana, greens). He said that if they get too fat they won't lay. Is that true? [IMG]

My chickens aren't what I would call "fat". They are very healthy and robust. [IMG]

There are 5 stages of fat. Your hens are "fluffy".

This guy cracks DBF up every time. He's "fluffy", too.

Just like fat dogs have a hard time getting pregnant/whelping puppies, just like fat people often have fertility problems and problems during pregnancy and birth, a fat chicken often has serious egg production issues. It's unhealthy and screws up the body's normal function for any animal to be over it's normal weight.
