Hello! I am new to the whole raising chickens! I went to a chicken breeder and he supposedly told me the sex, ( i did know 2 were roosters, but he was gonna kill them so I took them!) Now, the problem is, I think I have a total of 4 or 5 roosters now and maybe 2 or 3 hens. Are the roosters gonna kill each other? I love them all, and I don't want anything to happen to them. Could someone please tell me what I need to do? Other then kill them or get rid of them, they have a special place in my heart.

You either need to separate the roosters into their own rooster only pen or get a LOT more hens. Your roosters will wear your hens out soon and the girls won't hold up. Even after moving them to their own coop & run, I'd monitor them for severe aggression in case they're fighting and/or injuring one another. If you can process them for a meal, you might want to look into doing that. You could try and give them away - but they may eventually meet that same fate at another home as well...

Make a bachelor pen. House the males separately. With no females to fight over they usually get along.

Please post pics so we can see them and advise you, but just two roster to 2 or 3 hens is way too much. I think you are supposed to have1 rooster to something like 10 hens, unless you have a really gentle, calm rooster.

Exactly what owen says leave one with the hens and move the rest but you should have 10 hens per one rooster.

I have had up to 3 roosters at once, they were about the same size and more or less got along. Occasionally they would chest bump, but no major skirmishes. In my case it seemed that one does emerge as a leader.

If you need to part with one, I found Craig's list is a good outlet. (Either free or get a few bucks)
