Too much ventilation?

My dad is making a coop for guineas, we’re debating how much ventilation we need to have. Currently planned for 9”x4’ in back and 8”x2’ (with extra on the front). The sides don’t have enough overhang to feel comfortable leaving them open. Do we need to create a further overhang or do we have enough already? They only have 3 guineas, but looking to add more if we can find them

Too much ventilation isn't an issue, too much precipitation getting in might be.

Top hinged panels over the open side vents might do the trick, like this: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/coop-ventilation.1452812/page-2#post-24868607
Ooooh, I’ll suggest the hinges! That’s a brilliant idea. The winds don’t really come from those directions, but better safe than sorry. He’s thinking of putting a screen on the back door as well, for extra day time breezes in the summer. Some electric poultry netting and it’ll be great!
