We have rain all today - it's not too cold, but blustry and very very wet. My five hens have a nice tractor with shelter under the hutch part and a very dry hutch. Yet they look terrible! damp to wet, all scraggly and muddy. Do I need to be concerned, move them into the tool shed? Or is this just a ploy for MORE TREATS? Just that its the tropical storm IDA blowing rain every which way. I also have a tarp, but it gets too warm with it over the tractor.
If you watch your birds closely you can usually tell if it's going to be an all day rain or a brief shower. If it's going to rain all day, they will stay out in it. If it starts to rain and they run for shelter, you can bet it won't last long.
