What are the top 3 best duck breeds that lay eggs year round?
Khaki Campbells and Runner ducks are the best when it comes to laying. I've heard Welsh Harlequins are pretty good layers as well.
I'm researching this right now, too. I gather Campbell ducks lay a lot of eggs, and Runners, and I'm not sure what breed would be #3.
I just read this informative pdf document: http://www.metzerfarms.com/Articles/RaisingDucksHolderread.pdf
Thanks for the information everyone. It does sound like the Khaki Campbells are #1. Now it's just where to order some from. :/
Kuntry we have a slew of them due on NYD from our Khaki flock, and we do ship.
WOW !!!!!!!!!!! Simply Beautiful! I'm in love !!!!!!!!! I will PM you with questions.
According to Holderread's website, these are the top egg layers:
Eggs: If efficient egg production is your main goal, Anconas, Campbells, Harlequins, Hook Bills, Magpies and Runners should be given top priority.
I've had Harlequins and Anconas and would recommend both of them, too. Probably any of those breeds would suit your needs, so pick which ever one you like the best.
Thank you for posting this information. I will take a look at all of the breeds that you have listed.
