I bought 7 Easter egger chicks from TS and they were advertised as females im wondering how many of you have gotten chicks from TS and ended up with chicks that were mis-sexed? Or even mis breaded? I have 2 that got there combs coming in at the end of week 1 which seems freakishly early lol and they are larger than the others, the black one has incredibly thick legs, larger comb( while the others don’t have one yet), and noticeably larger than the others they are going on 3 weeks now. I know it’s impossible to sex so early especially with them being Easter eggers but I’m just wondering from other expiriences could this one be a Roo? Have you gotten mis-sexed or mis breeded from TS? I wouldn’t mind having one be a rooster but I’m nervous about having multiple! Thank you😊

Sorry it took me a minute but this is the first lil chick in question the black one! I got them from TS March 1 so to my knowledge they are around 2 weeks old maybe it seems so young for a comb and this one is so much larger than the others! Thank you all for taking the time to respond!

This chick also already has a comb and is colored totally different than the others! Also has started pecking the others a lot which I know is just apart of being a chick but “she” seems to be the ringleader 😂

I think those "big combs" are single combs, which naturally stand up taller than some other kinds of combs. That makes it harder to tell if they are big for their age, or just look big because of being a different shape.

Single combs are a very common comb type. Pea combs (common in Easter Eggers but rare among other breeds) tend to be smaller and stay low to the head, and rose combs are wider but tend to stay very low and flat while the chicks are young. It's hard to be sure in the group photos, but I think you might have some each of several types.

this is the first lil chick in question the black one!
That mostly-black chick looks a lot like a Barred Rock to me.

It's fairly common to hear of chicks from TSC that were the wrong breed, or the wrong gender, or both.

This is good to know!! Now that you say barred rock I can totally see this one being that, I’m so curious to see how they all grow in the next few weeks!
