Hello. For my daughters science project we bought 2 dozen Trader Joes fertile chicken eggs and 14 hatched in our incubator!! I've never had chickens before! I was hoping for 1 or 2!! 14 is kind of a lot! I've been reading like crazy everything chickens! I have no clue what type they could be. I got some really good tips on what to keep them in until they're big enough to go outside. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

    Hi :welcome
Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your 14 new babies :celebrate Incubating and hatching is such a fantastic experience, something I enjoy very much in fact probably too much! It can get very addictive. Here is a nice section of the learning centre if you have not already checked it out https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-and-raising-chicks
Has some great articles on raising chicks with lots of info and tips.

Once your chicks are a little older you could post some pics in the what breed gender section of the forum for help on identifying your babies https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

Good luck with your new chicks, enjoy them as they grow very fast!
Hope you enjoy BYC, I am sure you will :frow

Thank you everyone for you comments and help!!! They mostly look alike but some have black markings. I'm not sure where Trader Joes gets their fertile chicken eggs from. I will definitely post pictures when they are bigger to get opinions on the breed & gender. Thanks again! [IMG]
