Transitioning to grass

So over the last week I've been leaving my geese outside in their run with lots of lovely grass to eat while I'm at work, ( it's fresh grass growing from the ground, not clippings) but I have a question; Before I put them to bed for the night I always fill up their tray with pellets to supplement them while I'm away, they go so crazy for this stuff it seems like they're starving and gobble it down like it's been their only meal in the day - should I be feeding them more pellets than just once a night?

Pellets should be available all day. Most geese will choose to fill up on grass first if enough is available. Pellets seem to be second choice here.

I'd give them access to pellets during the day, too.
A funny thing--they might eat less if it's always available. (Or they might eat more, because it's hard to predict what animals will do. But sometimes free choice actually does reduce consumption, because they do not feel the need to gobble it up before it's gone.)
