Golly day, what county??? I'm in Goochland, and Animal Control Officer told me I can trap year round on my own property. I can shoot the varmints...even on Sunday. And we can shoot our guns whenever we feel like itCheck your state AND local laws. In Virginia, it's illegal to relocate but it's okay to shoot a fox or coyote on your own property. Except on Sunday. However, in my county, you can't shoot a firearm on your property unless you have a certain number of acres. We don't have that many acres.
I've got a real Catch 22 going on here. Guess I need to find a friend with enough acres to allow me to shoot a firearm and drag the trapped animal there.![]()

I just talked to animal control in order to clarify the coyote thing...and he said you can't actively hunt coyotes on Sundays, but if they are on your property, he said shoot 'em.Prince William County in Northern Virginia. We just passed the ordinance to have chickens in certain county regions last year. Thankfully, I fell into one of the regions but I can't legally use a firearm where I am. The relocation and Sunday hunting law comes from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries website and I believe that's statewide. Here's the link about coyote's: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wildlife/problems/coyotes/
