Treat?

Can chickens have birdseed as a treat?

I give mine birdseed but I also make sure they get grit and plenty of other things.

For what it's worth: they don't seem to like it if it's just offered up to them on a dish or poured in a pile. They only seem to like it if they 'find' it after scratching around for awhile. I just toss it around the run. They don't go after it right away, but I see them hunting for it and eating it later.
