So my two Pekins have mild bumblefoot that I am treating as per instructions here (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w17JlVUX5duNiHuZ0I8MeCV6DD-4-FzjNs6pVOxBnnIbM)
how much epsom salt and betadine do I put in the soaking water? I know you can put the betadine on full strength before the wound is open, but if they’re soaking in it for half an hour twice a day, I want it to be effective but not overdo it. Thoughts?
Context: here’s what I’m doing
1. Betadine, epsom salt, warm water foot soaks half an hour a day.
2. Rinse bird in fresh warm water to make sure it’s not on their feathers
3. Dry and spray feet with vetericyn
4. Coat scabby bits with mupirocin ointment 2%
5. I’ve had 0 luck getting any kind of bandage to stay on, and duck shoes are ordered but will take a while. So at this point I let them go about their business.
6. before night time coop, I spray their feet with vetericyn again.
7. Once the scab is ready to come off, I’ll put them into a smaller enclosure with clean straw and keep them out of water and mud for a few days.
Does this all seem right?
