I have a 4-year old cochin hen, who I believe has scaly mites on her feet. (It was difficult to detect due to all her feathers).
I plan to treat with a foot-dip in isopropyl alcohol followed by an application of petroleum jelly.
My difficulty is that she is so feathery all over her legs, feet and toes, that I'm not sure how to successfully get to the scales. Should I be trimming her foot and leg feathers before application of treatment?
