I have a very pretty araucana I hatched, problem is it has a single comb. I contacted the breeder and was told every now and then they "pop up". Is this an automatic cull, as was suggested by the breeder? I may have to use it in my laying flock just because it is tufted and adorable if it turns out to be a pullet. Experience? Thanks!

I have never gotten a straight comb from my araucana breeding, so not sure how often that could happen, but I wouldn't use it either.

thanks Jody, it wasn't a BYC'er, but it is from a very well known breeder. I will have to rehome the cutie, I went to check it out again after I posted and the comb is looking rather large to be a pullet

You're making the right decision. No good can come from using a bird with a disqualification as a breeder.
