Trying to decide

I am not sure I placed this question in the right place--- if not I apologize---but we are building another coop and I am going to get some more pullets. We want good layers and so I am looking at RIR's Red Stars, Black Stars--- any comments, experiences? Are there any other breeds known for their egg production like these?

I'm going to get some Black Australorps next year. They are supposed to be docile and excellent layers.

We went with Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks because of their laying reputation. They're only 8 weeks so we will wait and see.

As a kid on the farm we had RIR's and they were prolific layers and made great fried dinners.

Our BO's began laying at 17-1/2 weeks....we'll see how long they go!

Thanks for all the suggestions--- that chicken breed selector was way cool! Haven't decided yet but have some really good ideas now!
