So...my understanding is that brahmas have feathered feet from the get go. Walked into our local tsctonight for some supplies and feed...saw these guys in with the brahmas...so of course I had to get some!! Lol...what am I?? First two pics are the 1 def brahma. Next are pics of 2 out of the other 3. All clean legs. Light stripes going down the back...did someone mix up a different breed? Or are profuction brahmas missing something? Lol received_10210959309808616.jpeg received_10210959310008621.jpeg received_10210959309808616.jpeg received_10210959310008621.jpeg received_10210959310528634.jpeg received_10210959348889593.jpeg received_10210959310368630.jpeg

If they are clean legged they aren't Brahma, though tractor supply isn't known for quality or correct birds, so you never know. Post some pictures after they feather out to try to determine breeds.

I'm truly hoping for every Brahma characteristic besides the feathered feet! Lol

For true breed type - best to buy from a breeder that shows his birds.

Hatchery stock usually misses the keystone characteristics of the breeds.

For 3$ a piece...I figured screw it! Seeing how they are color and patterened differently and I only bought 1 actual Brahma...going to go back today and grab a few more with the feather...and maybe a couple more without(shhhh)

Yea, those aren't brahmas... The clean legged ones. I agree that they're going to have to feather out before we can figure that one out.

Ok. So due to size difference...I set up the 4 last night in their own brooder as to not get trampled. I went this morning, got 3 actual brahmas(seeing how I only got 1 last night) and 1 more mystery chick. When I got home I put the 4 in. Checked for any signs of illness...and put a smaller EE and my other blue laced red that's about 2 weeks old or so in with the new chicks as they are alot smaller than the rest of the 2/3 week old batch. Noticed instantly...the blue laced red chick I had looks identical to the mystery chicks from tsc! What do you folks think? The previous blue lace was from aubuchon. I waited and waited as i couldnt find any...they got held up in the post office an extra day and caught a chill they just couldnt shake. I got the last three...also got 2 red shouldered yokohamas ...this is the only remaining chick left from the 5...but looks like i just got some of the blur lace reds back!! And as for a first time chicken goer...im hearing alot of stories of people loosing chicks more often than not...so im proud that the only chicks ive lost are ones i got in very poor health! So...GO ME!! Let me know what yall think! received_619169988431558.jpeg received_619169988431558.jpeg received_619169988431558.jpeg received_619169988431558.jpeg received_619169838431573.jpeg
