Along with 19 mallard ducks, I inherited 2 turkey chicken roosters. They roost with the ducks in a shed at night. I feed them the same food as the ducks. In the beginning, they all ate together pretty peacefully, but now the roosters are bullying the ducks away from the food. Not sure how old, but I suspect they were young. One started crowing in December, the other just started crowing last week. We have lots of room and they are free range. They stay pretty much to themselves during the day. In the beginning the two of them got along well. They would stick together. Lately they have split apart during the day, and I watched the two of them get into a scuffle this morning over food. When I come into the yard, the older one tries to peck me. When I am out in the bigger yard, as soon as they see me, they run toward me and stalk me. I carry a net around to keep from being pecked by them. My question is, what to do? Would adding females help? I have heard roosters will attack each other if females are around. My neighbors on both sides have young children. I also have grand children. I do not want to put the kids at risk.
