Someone mentioned to me today that chickens and chicks do better on turkey feed. Especially turkey starter. Have any of you heard of this, and do you give that to your chicks? The guy said the chicks grow faster, and get fatter on it. I don't see that as something I want in just some pet chickens. Thoughts? Thanks

yes you can feed turkey/gamebird starter to your chicks.but its mostly fed to turkeys geese ducks peafowl because they require high protine to support their fast growth.

Depending on the breed/purpose, you may not want the fastest growth rate. Unless you are raising for meat, I would stick with the 18% or so starter, fast growth rate can lead to skeletal problems.

thanks for the replies. We'll stick to chicken food.
