Turkey Hunting

I was driving down the road and thought I saw a pig way out in a wheat field. I pulled over and watched it and realized it was a tom turkey strutting his stuff. I raced home and grabbed my weapon and rushed back and got off several good shots. It was difficult because he was so far out in the field but my optics did an okay job.






And you thought I was talking about a gun!

I was talking about my Pentax K-r with a 300mm Dal lens.

I have a friend that turkey hunts every year. He's been practicing calling for weeks. Yesterday he came to a Living Green type festival I was working with a friend who brought all her chickens and turkeys(heritage hens). The hens were clucking all day and he started laughing. He said he's been practicing so hard and he didn't sound anything like the hens there.
