Hello, so I have a question about having two roosters I read that as long as you have enough hens and enough space in the coup that they should be good together well I have a 16 and 1/2 foot by 7 and 1/2 foot and I free range them and I have four mature hens and two seven week old hens and an adult rooster and a seven week old rooster will they be okay together

Hello Andrew,:frow and a warm welcome to Backyard Chickens! It's great to have you here with us. Six hens aren't nearly enough for two roosters

You would typically want 10 hens per rooster, to save the girls from being overbred and possibly injured and losing feathers.

Are the dimensions you listed for the coop or the run? Space is important when keeping multiple roos so they can each establish their own territory/sub-flock, which usually only works if there's enough hens to go around. It's possible that the mature roo will never let the younger mate, or they could end up fighting pretty brutally later on. A lot depends on personality.

Hello, and welcome! Glad that you joined! I agree with the other's that if you want to keep 2 roosters, that you will have to have more hen's for them. Good luck with your flock!

    Hello! Welcome to BYC!! :frow

I agree with @feathermaid , a lot will depend on personality. You can always take a wait and see approach if you've got a plan to get rid of him if all goes awry.
