So....its me again. All the girls recovered nicely from their last bout of coccidiosis...and here I am, hemming and hawing over whether or not I should turn on the heat lamp. Right now it is 13 degrees out, but the deep cold is coming overnight.

I have 18 girls in a 10 x 10 coop....just reassure me they will be fine. Because I know they will, with NO HEAT![IMG]

They will be fine, Heat for them would be worse than no heat.

They are all cozy in their nice custom made feather blankets!

If you have combs they might get a few nips, but that is what it is like for us northerners.

They are all heavy breeds except my leghorns. They are all 1-4 years old.

They did fine! I resisted the urge. [IMG]

I am glad this worked out for you. We see those temps from time to time, and for some unknown reason, I have the same thoughts as you. And I know better… it is just the love of the birds, I believe. Glad you got through it without giving in. A testament for all of us. Thanks for posting the update.

Best to you and your birds,

    RJ

Sometimes it is nice to win something, but these cold weather champs make me glad to just be average. That is some cold weather you have out there. The links were fun as well.

Best to you and your birds,

    RJ

Oh No. that is not what I meant, this dubious traveling trophy and honor should really go to some other state for the next 30 years.
