Our supposedly male goose, The Colonel, laid an egg today....
There are some extenuating circumstances surrounding this and a new goose.
To help us do some effective sleuthing, does anyone know the answer to the following question:
Do geese typically only lay fertilized eggs?

    Insight is appreciated.
Warm regards and happy New Year!

Geese only lay fertilized eggs if they have been bred by a gander. If not bred by a gander, they lay unfertilizzed eggs. If the question is, "Do geese need a gander to lay eggs?" the answer is nope.

African Goose who enjoys greeting cars, sampling finger with grass on top of them, and blindly jogging off steep edges. We're returning her awesome new "friend" Lucy to the previous owner today because The Colonel is being mean in the goose house at night. It's been 2 weeks and we just can't keep having Lucy turn the chicken coop (her new bedroom) on end every night. We're gonna give it some time then try bringing in a friend of the same feather.
