We got 2 sex links when they were about 3 weeks old. The black one has developed wonderfully, she looks great. The red one - not so much. Now I'm worried that she is actually a he, after doing some research on other sex links. I know they are supposed to be bred so you can tell what they are, but I can't figure out why she's not growing!! they are about 11 weeks old now. check out the size difference! Thing is, the red one follows the black one around like it's the mama bird. Would a Roo do that? Or maybe the black one is a roo? [IMG][IMG][IMG]

These are my first ever chickens, so any help would be awesome [IMG]

    Any ideas?

The black one is a boy and your other one is a girl.

Aww, well shoot! Glad I asked. That explains why they look so different!

    Thanks for the replies [IMG]

Also, if that black is male, and it appears that he is, he is not a black sex link. Black sex links look like badly barred Barred Rock males. Not sure what breed he is.

Yuppers I agree. Your black is a male mixed bird, and the SL is definitely a female. Looks like she's within a month of giving you eggs too!
