I just got quail eggs from Purple Chicken but they are too big for the quail trays that I have. Any suggestions???
Quote:I know how that is all too well! Those jumbos pop out some huge eggs! Do you have any banty sized egg turners??? Youre meaning your turner trays right? Or are you meaning while you let them settle before putting them in the bator? if just for waiting, just make sure the quail tray is on a level surface, and put the tip down lightly atleast the tip should hold em in until t hey're ready for the bator. If you're meahing the turner, and you didnt have any size that would perfectly fit em i'd just take the turner out and hand turn but most dont want to do that. I hand turn myself.
I mean the trays they are supposed to go in the incubator in. I have them all setting small end down in them but I don't know if they will work to go in the Sportsman that way with out all falling out while it turns. I am wondering if I can use some egg cartons for standard sized eggs so they will hold them with out letting them fall out. PC sent me 69 eggs!
Quote:I was wondering if that would work too. I have zero experience with automatic turners....you may try asking on the hatching board theres some quaily peeps on there with turners im sure!!! I am soo jealous you have a sportsman!!!!! hehe!

Anytime she wants it back she's welcome to it, but in the meantime, I'm trying to hatch like crazy in it as long as I have it.

When I got my first button eggs they would not even come close to fitting in the turner, I just layed them on their sides in a quail egg carton and turned them like that. Just make sure they get turned side to side, not end to end. I would use the chicken egg tray.
Hey Buster, I use egg cartons in my Brinsea for the entire hatch. These are pics of a hatch from september. The eggs on the left were in that carton for the entire hatch and had a much higher hatch rate than the ones on the right. With the Brinsea the turner rocks the entire bator. Yoy want those eggs upright.
I have them upright in egg tray flats. It seems to hold them ok when the Sportsman turns it. I put 9 in a tray and turned it manually just to make sure.
