I have family that invite themselves to my home. I live a far distance from them; which means it would be anywhere from 4-7 day stay. I don't get along with my family and that's why I don't invite them.

I like the renovating idea but recently I was told my sister and her idiot husband plan on coming for a visit. Now I'm stressed big time and hope it never happens.

Does anyone have a suggestion to prevent this un-invited visit from happening?

Just say no. Or if possible, go visit them instead. Thay way you get to determine when the visit is over.

Friends are the family that we make for ourselves. There is no realistic need to remain attached to toxic individuals simply because of genetic ties.

    Or marital mistakes.

Just start your renovation. If they say they are coming, tell them great - you need some help with drywalling, painting, laying tile, etc. And - Oh, yeah - the guest room is out of service so they will need to stay in a tent in the yard or a motel.

Lol! Thanks for the suggestions! My family would think that's a great idea, unfortunately! There's been no recent mention of it, so I'm hoping they changed their minds! Thanks again!
