I'm curious for those of you more experienced w/ chick hatching is this an unabsorbed yolk in this chick? Or is it a combination of unabsorbed yolk and insides hanging out too? This chick died about 15-30 minutes ago. I'm thinking it hatched prematurely or my silkie whose been sitting on the eggs helped it out (it's her first time sitting on any eggs). Sorry the picture is somewhat fuzzy. I don't have the best of digital cameras for upclose pics.

Yes, that is unabsorbed yolk. I'm sorry it happened:( but yes, that's what it looks like. Hopefully the other chicks came out alright!

Can you zoom in with your camera? If so hold the camera as far away as you can from the subject and then zoom in closer, that may help with the fuzzy pics. Works for me. [IMG] Sorry about the chick.
