Hi y'all,
I'm from Australia too, like another new member. I got two ISA browns two years ago, and was totally naive about chickens - I thought they were vegetarian! We have now had three instances of one of our chooks killing mice (assisted two times by the neighbour's cat).
Since then I have found out that chickens truly are feathered dinosaurs (they possess DNA from tyrannosaurus rex!). I have also discovered they are hilarious, difficult, ANGRY when new flock members are introduced, and sometimes, very sweet.
I now have two pekin bantams, one rhode island white, two ISA browns and one funny little Araucana rooster.
I bore everyone senseless now with my chicken talk - so I'm hoping I can get it out on this forum and leave my poor friends and family in peace!
