We are not totally new to chickens but I am new to chicks. I have 16 on the way the week Of April 9th. One Golden Polish (Male) , 4 whiting true blue, 4 whiting true greens, 3 buff orphingtons, 3 New Hampshire reds, and one odd one. I found you all while researching options for a brooder with no lamp and discovered the heating pad method. I’m leaning towards that. (I’d love detailed instructions) I have 3 kiddos. 14, 9, and 12. We lost most of our flock to Marek’s last year and the remaining hens ended up in the neighbors coop. (They had the plague too) so we are starting over with vaccinated chicks and hoping for the best.
