So....my wife and I were adopted by a chicken.
About three days after we got married, I came home from work to find a Buff Orpington hanging out in our back yard.
While our next door neighbors canvased the neighborhood asking if anyone had lost a chicken, we fed and watched out for her for a few days.
Every day she would come running whenever we opened the door...even if she was all the way across the street.
So to protect her (and, perhaps, our reputation with everyone in our neighborhood) my father-in-law bought us a coup. She's been providing us with eggs almost every day since!
Just today we bought her two little friends--a Black Sex-link and a Blue Cochin Bantam. They're still settling in, Henny got used to being an only child. Hopefully, they'll become buddies.
