Unusual egg?

Hi everyone!

My 5 month old Pekin just started laying yesterday morning. The first egg was cracked, but looked otherwise healthy. Today she laid another one, but I also found this. It looks like a small soft shell egg. Is this normal?

It is normal for young hens to lay some odd eggs when they first start out. However, you should make sure she is getting enough calcium. If you aren't already, offer oyster shell free choice so she can take as much as she needs.

Great! I was worried there was something wrong! Yes, we just got some oyster shell and am offering it with her pellets. She has laid two days in a row now at the same time, so I am interested in seeing if this will be a daily thing now!! Thanks for the feedback!!
