unusual egg

I went down to my coop this morning and found what appeared to be an egg laying in the middle of the floor.It looked like a brown delapidated mushroom.It was pliable and solid like a rubber ball.It had a hollow section in the middle and what appeared to be the yoke was spread on the shavings.I have never seen this.I would take a picture and post it but I'mnot very tech minded.Any Ideas what may have caused this.I have pr and bsl.Thanks

I believe soft eggs are normal especially among new layers as their systems get the whole egg process down
