Unwanted advice!

OY!

I have been looking into starting our backyard flock for about a year. We just bought our chicks yesterday and you would not believe the advice that I have received in the past 2 days! Even from people who have never had chickens! Any tips on how to tame the know it alls?

Everybody, with or without chickens, has their own stories. Even here on the forum, which is a GREAT place for information, you will get lots of advice that will be different from the next persons. We are just all so enthusiastic! Perhaps the best way to manage it might be to just say "thank you" to everyone but do whatever you want or think best regardless.

I do that with my kid. People give you advice on your kids even if they've never been around kids. Burns me up...

Hand them an order form from your hatchery. Tell them to try out their own advice at home first, and get back to you.

I don't mind excess advice. I have learned thing or two I didn't know I needed to learn that way. It just gives you more options.
