Wondering what egg prices are going for in various parts of the country in 2015. National average for store-bought is $2.21/dozen as of Dec 2014 (BLS).

We are in Minnesota, but a rural community. I'm thinking about $3/dozen.

    Thoughts?

Here in north FL, at least around my part of it, eggs sell for $2 to $2.50 a dozen. Not sure if that's because so many folks around here keep chickens, or if it's because the economy is so bad in this part.

Those prices are the same as in NYC.

Where I live it varies a bit. A quick CL search showed a smaller, outlying town has them for $2.50 a dozen. South in a more populated area, they're $4. Were I going to charge for them here, it would be either $3-3.50, possibly depending on how much I like the person [IMG]

$3 for dozen fresh backyard eggs is a common price here too. $4 for non GMO free range.

In w Kentucky $2.50 is about the best price your going to get with most going for $2.00. I think one problem is a lot of people have their own chickens. And in this area nobody cares if your eggs are organic.

^ Yep, that's the case here in TN too. You can drive 2 miles up the road and see 10 "Farm fresh eggs for sale" signs. If we were talking hatching eggs, that'd be a different story, I sell those for a pretty penny ($1 an egg, and that's being generous, some folks ask A LOT more). But, for eating eggs, I don't bother. I just keep them for myself.

When I was in Dollar General Store last week I noticed eggs were $1.97 for a dozen Large. The grocery chains are about the same price. I somehow manage to squeeze my customers $3 for a dozen Large and $2 gets them a dozen Medium.

We put the offer out and nobody balked at $4/dozen here (Southern MN), so that's what we're going with. Not many people raising chickens in our rural community, even the farm families were interested.
