Thank you! I have a question, newbie here lol. When abouts do Barred Rocks and Easter Eggers (I figure for EE it's a wide frame lol) start laying? Just out of curiosity [IMG] they are totally at home in the coop, and love the TOP of their nest boxes hehe.

Your Munk looks like my 5 week old Ladyhawk (hope she is a Lady! [IMG] ).

I have three 5 week old BR and am waiting to see if I have 2 roo's and a pullet or if they are all pullets. Were suppose to be all pullets.

Quote:I believe they start laying approx 20 weeks. But don't expect them to go by the calender [IMG] I counted to the day for 20 weeks....waited... day by day. Let me tell you I was so excited to have one of my Faverolles lay the very first egg (at 22 & 1/2 weeks - told you I counted, lol). Thrilling!!!

lol! Thanks all, and yeah I am very excited especially with the varity the EE could lay. They are such charactures! Joon, the BR, is totally independent and doesn't bat an eye whenever Munk dissapears behind the plants. But god forbid Joon go out of sight. Munk runs around SCREAMING her head off for Joon. And then when they finally find each other they bump chests. Like little football players lol!

I was lucky because the one cockerel I had was VERY obvious at 4 weeks old, even being an EE. Next week they should be able to go outside full time, but I am nervous of course for their first night in the coop. It is pretty darn safe from predators so they will probably be fine. My first batch of chicks were outside from day 1, in a very non protected small animal cage until they were big enough to just be out on the ranch. I was lucky to have never lost one to a wild predator (tame one's on the other hand...)
