I have a incubator for my chicken eggs and the humidity is hard for me to keep stabilized. What am I doing wrong? but for the past 2 days it’s goes from 49-55 for humidity & I try my best to keep it at 50. Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong or how to get it back down to 50 for humidity? also I have the vent half way open. I have the nurture right 360 incubator from tractor supply.

Open the vent all the way. My humidity drifts high then it lowers as the day goes on. I fill it back up with room temp water. Humidity is really an average though out the hatch. Just fill both sides when you go into lockdown. As chicks hatch, the humidity raises.

Don't worry too much about it. If you're above 30 and below 55, you're probably fine. I have 2 of the same incubator. The last time I hatched eggs, I ran mine dry for day 1-17 and then added water on day 18, closed the vents and got the humidity as high as I could get it.

If I remember right 12/13 hatched.

I only put 5 eggs in, this was my first time doing it. I was too impatient to collect tons of eggs to incubate. My birthday is March 24th & I wanted them born around my bday, so if I calculated correctly they’ll be born March 21st! How exciting! Anyways they’ve been incubating for 7 days & when I go to candle them only 2 of the eggs are showing life & the other 3 seem like duds. So I am trying everything in my power to make sure these 2 little ones hatch. I really would love 2 more hens! They will be off spring from my hen that I love so much, she’s the sweetest girl ever! & lays me the best eggs, she also started laying first out of all of my hens!

Any update on the hatch? I made a diy incubator using a 7 egg incubator and a styrofoam cooler this week .It needs a new hygrometer and thermometer before I attempt to set a batch of eggs. The 2 I have give 2 different readings.
