URGENT!!!

I found an egg in our yard that we suspect to be a duck egg. We picked it up and put it in a zip lock baggie for now so the elementary school kids don't destroy it. Now what do I do?? I have chickens do I just put it in the coop with them? Help!! I do not know how to incubate or anything like that.

If you have a broody hen, you can try and let her hatch it. If you don't have an incubator or a broody hen, chances of keeping to warm enough to hatch are slim to none.

I have a heat lamp over it now in the coop in a separate container with bedding. Hopefully one of my chickens will take to it.

A chicken will only 'take to it' if she's broody. A heat lamp might keep it at 100 degrees but it won't maintain proper humidity level.

It may have been an abandoned egg the duck hen discarded.

We did the candle trick and its alive. I've done all the things to make an incubator and have a hen laying on it now. Thanks
