Greetings! I used to be a member 4-5 yrs ago, but somehow got lost....

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We started with chickens and guineas 5 yrs ago.

    (2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Over 100 counting our approx 50 broilers, but we have easily had 100 layers a couple times...

    (3) What breeds do you have?

main breeds we try to keep for eggs are americaunas & barred rock...
we also have Golden Laced Polish, Patridge Silky, an assortment of banties we got in a *special*, white rocks, and another breed I always forget and have to look up....LOL
I loved my golden laced wyndotte, but lost her a yr ago. I also love the look of the partridge birds and want some partridge rocks next yr.

    (4) How did you find out about

    can't recall originally....

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies?

my hobbies are pretty much my family & homestead... I like to read, sew, garden, and learn!

    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My dh and I have 10 dc so far, 8 still living at home (19ys to 19mos) and 2 out of the nest (23 & 26).

We moved here to 11 acres 5 yrs ago and started with laying chickens & guineas & La Mancha dairy goats...

Since then we have added - broilers, Mini La Mancha dairy goats, dogs (Great Pyrs), cats, turkeys, rabbits, ducks, peafowl, pigs, and a calf (meat)...

We still hope to add a cow or two...

I am a homemaker and home school our dc (17+ yrs now)

    Thanks for the welcome backs!

LilRalphieRoosmama - we love this area.... beautiful and some really good people. We came here 5yrs ago from San Diego, CA. Wanted land and a better place to raise our dc.

And people here LOVE *yard* eggs.... we turn people away constantly... our hens can't keep up.
