I have Utility kings and some that are homer x utility king mix. I also have pure utility kings and comparing the pures and the mix i would say the mix ones are more prolific producer but the downside of them is that they will sometimes throw in smaller size squabs. Not very often but lets say 2 out of 6 clutches. These smaller size squab are just a little bigger than normal homer squab. As the pure utility will consistently produce same size babies, but are a little less productive but are still prolific. And both will produce spring through winter but slow down during the colder season. I don't have Texans but i did do some research and they are very neat looking and their sex-link trait is very useful for some who wants easily sex them to keep for future breeding purpose. And it also mention Texans are a mixed breed consisting of utility and some other breeds develop for their squabbing ability and sex-link traits. Not saying utility kings aren't mix breed either(correct me if i'm wrong for both breeds). I also forgot to mention Swiss mondaine, that were once use as squab producers but have been more modify for exhibition purpose. so which breed would you choose as squab producer(for home purpose of course)?
