Get Merek's Vaccine if the hatchery offers it or you are able to do it yourself. I know a lady who lost a flock to merek's Disease. It is not that uncommon around here. She said it was awful and she will never get chicks without it now. I also fed medicated feed to my chicks because they didn't offer the vaccine against Coccidiosis in the winter.

I heard somewhere that they are supposed to be vaccinated for Mareks in the first day after hatch. Can you do it once you've received your chicks when they're 2-3 days old?

On the Poutrysite.com there is this info: Information on poultry diseases, or where to obtain vaccines, call Dr. Eva Wallner-Pendleton at the Veterinary Diagnostic Center, (402) 472-1434.

I believe the vaccine to do it yourself comes in large quantities. Check around or go in on it with someone if it is only available that way.
