Veggies for chicks?

Hi there, I was wondering when it's ok to start feeding veggies to my chicks. As they were following my daughter around the dining room yesterday, she dropped a piece of raw zuchinni and they went after it like it was manna from heaven! They are almost a week old now. Is it ok to give them a strip to peck at? Will I need to offer them more grit than is in their starter crumble?

i give my chicks fruit and vegetables
you can feed them but watch for a change in their droppings
they always love lettuce

I feed mine any thing an adult can have just in smaller quantites.
