Vent swollen/red

Hey guys! Just noticed today that one of my girls has some swelling/redness in her vent area. You can only get a good look when she bends over. She is alert, eating, drinking, socializing, and I BELIEVE she is still laying, though I will be able to make certain tomorrow. Not sure what I should do, if anything, and what may be going on with her poor tush. Any help appreciated!

Poor girl.
You should start by removing her and bringing her inside to completely clean off her backside. Taking new pictures at that point will be most helpful.
Then give her a good health check and report back with what you find.
The more experienced ER folks will then be about to assist you better.

Can you bring her in give her a soak in Epsom Salt Luke warm water. Get her all cleaned up then post another picture so we can see better. A good look.

It's great fun!
If it's cold where you are and she'll be going back out after you get through this, be forewarned that it takes a long time to blow dry a chicken.

Okay so chicken soak is happening with mixed results. She seems a little more settled, but we are all very wet right now. However, during the battle of the bath, I was able to snap some photos of her rear. It looks so much worse now that she is all wet. Here’s what I have so far (she is in a barrel under a towel having a soak right now so it may be a bit until I can get more)

Lubricate the vent area. A oil. Coconut oil is nice. She looks like someone was pecking her top side. And looks like her vent is not looking great. How long a ago did she lay a egg.
Do you know how to check for a egg?
