I have a 8 month old male Pekin who is very "mean". I have 2 runners (also 8 months) and the Pekin chases 1 around and just pulls feathers out and is just very mean. To be honest, I don't know if the Runners are males or females. They're tail feathers curl like a male Pekins, so we're thinking they're males.
The 1 that gets picked on is smaller than the rest of my ducks. I had to put my 2 Runners in my bath tub yesterday because the 1 doesn't seem to be eating. He gets so scared that he tries to hide in the corner of the run and he got his leg hung up in the fence. It's OK, but scrapped himself up. Is there any ideas as to breaking the Pekin? Or is it a lost cause?
The male Pekin also get rough with my female Pekin when he's mating, but I was told that's normal. She gets even though by bossing him around...

Probably just gonna get rid of both male Pekins

Any advice is welcome.

weebles&wobblesmom :

Yes. They are 8 months old, but full grown.

i'd at least separate him form your runners since he is terrorizing the one so much.

Right now, my 2 Runners are in my bathroom (the things we wont do for our animals) at least until the 1's leg heals, and I have the 2 male Pekins in a smaller pen inside the coop. I'm hoping I can find someone to take them ASAP.

Anyone near the Kankakee Illinois area that is interested in 2 Pekin males?.....

you might try posting on the Ill. thread "where am I where are you" thread good luck and hope you can find them a home.

I am having the same problem with one of my rouens he is violent and chasing down my older male pekin who is sweet as pie. We separated them into another coop but hubby really just wants to cull him and be done with it. I am still just hoping he will go back to being nice after mating season since he was just fine before.
