I imagine molting is very hard on a hen, but can it make them very sick too? My hen Dolly is very weak and lethargic and is walking very crouched down. She almost acts as if she's had a stroke or something. There are no visible signs of injury. I've had other hens molt and I can tell they don't feel very good, but this is the worst I've ever seen. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

She's currently hospitalized and I've been enticing her with her favorite treats. She does eat and drink. She's 2.5 years old and this is her second molt. Even though several of my other hens are molting, none are acting this bad.

Thanks.

Is she pooping ok? You probably checked for mites, lice, crop not too hard or too soft, abdomen not hard or filled w/ fluid........

If all that checked out, you could try yogurt, poultry vitamins, maybe some feed w/ a high protein content.
