I'm used to pullets laying undersized eggs, but this little duck egg is quite a bit smaller than those! From the left--duck egg, small duck egg, chicken hen egg, pullet egg. Think the itty bitty one has a yolk? IMG_2014.JPG

Nope! Thats called a fairy egg or fart egg. Its just a bit of eggwhite or something that somehow triggers the egg making process.

I had a buff duck lay an egg like that. It was so small I thought it was a marble laying in their pen It had a teeny tiny perfectly clear "yolk"

This is interesting and good to know cause I think my ducks are about to start laying and now I won't be alarmed if they produce a fart egg. Thank you for this!

So, upon cracking it open, we discovered a little bit of pale yellow yolk and the start of an embryo--what looked like blood veins in a Y shape.
