We live in the northeast (NH) and my husband has been raising chickens for about 3 years now, this summer he has had problems with the girls (10 of them) laying eggs. The girls are approximately 1 year old. A lot of the eggs have been very soft shelled and the girls aren't laying as much as they normally do. It was not unusal for him to get 8-10 eggs a day. Now he's lucky if he gets 4-5 eggs a day. He uses Blueseal layers mash (hasn't changed feed recenlty), supplements with oyster shell calcium, and they have plenty of grass and scraps from the house. They molted about three months ago so he doesn't think that's the problem. Other people he has talked to in our area say they have been having the same type of problems but no one can figure out whats going on.
