Very violent rooster. Cant enter pen.

Not anything against the OP but I am constantly amazed why people put up with aggression in ANY animal let alone an animal that can and will do extreme harm, if children are present that makes it even more serious. Cull the dang thing, and if and when you get another rooster make sure you or the kids don't treat them like a pet, after all my time here reading peoples experiences the majority say the same thing, "We don't know what happened, he used to be so sweet and loving" Be the flock leader, be the boss.. Everyone in my home knows that any attempt to befriend our roosters will be met with a quick swift kick to the rump, when I go out to the run (1/3 acre) I walk with purpose, they move away from me, a new rooster that gives so much as the stink eye is culled post haste

It may seem cruel to some but I have 3 grandbabies that love to come to Poppy and Nannys and gather eggs, If one of them was ever injured by one of my animals I would never forgive myself.

No doubt, a rooster can do a lot of damage.
My rooster is a big suck, keeps away from me and the kids. But you can pick him up safely if need be. Hope the new one to be the same docile type.

Its not for rehoming. I cannot allow my kids to be watchful of harming animals so it is strictly for food. This has been over the last two weeks and has turned deadly. My uncle offered to do them off for us so i just have to remove my kids. I have rehomed dogs for not getting along with my kids i deff wont tolerate chickens trying to kill me. I got pretty scratched up today during a chase and i actually had to hit her with a bucket to get her to stop. Now that the aggressive browns are getting out they have to go to. I am amazed that such loved pets have turned so evil but i am wondering if my brother hasnt had something to do with it. I walked down on him teasing the rooster and making him attack then smacking the fence. I am very ****** about this and got in a huge fight with him over this, keep in mind he has special needs so he didnt really understand what his actions were doing but i still wont allow my PETS to be tortured by anyone. Hopefully we can get back to our happy flock soon.

This is what I see again and again...mind you its not every time but it is the majority of the time... Best advice I can give, say they are pets but don't treat them as pets, their brains and behaviors are far different then say a dog.. They survive on dominance and flock leadership, you must be that flock leader.

I would cull him. An aggressive rooster is no fun; he may eventually seriously injure you, another person, or your hens. Personally, I wouldn't rehome him, since I wouldn't want to pass the problem on to someone else, or risk him breeding and spreading aggressive genetics.

One of our neighbors came and picked him up for eating the other day. Our flocks have calmed down a lot since. We still have one brown that acts aggressive but she just laid her first egg so we will give her another couple days to see how she does. Thanks for all the advice
