So my 5 1/2 week old cockerel is trying to mate with a mature hen. Anyone have any input on this?

[IMG] I would love to see a video - what do the hens think about the little devil?

My, he is a spry little fella!
Is your hen putting up with his antics?
I have an 8 week old White Leghorn roo -- he's learning to crow AND is trying to mate with my 8 week old pullets.
They are having none of that at all!
My mature hens are in their own coop/run so luckily he cannot even TRY it with them. Some of my sassier girls would probably hurt him.

That's a bit young, but I've had some boys start getting into it pretty young before. It's nothing to worry about. I once had a rooster who began crowing and chasing around the little pullets at two weeks old [IMG]

We've only seen it just after they retire to the coop in the evening. The hen he goes after is game so she's small. She just squats for him!
