Hi Everyone [IMG] I am from Fincastle, Virginia. I am interested in raising chickens and my hubby and I are going to start a coop this month so we can soon order chicks. I truly know nothing about chicken farming and am hoping with help from you all and this web site we can make a great go of it. Any help on what kind of chickens are the friendliest and good egg layers would be most helpful (Also where to order them from).
I work part time, quilt and garden and am fortunate to wake up to lots of wildlife outside my door each morning. Unfortunanately, some of those will like the chickens too and we must plan for this.
I am so looking forward to learning more....Thanks! K

[IMG] from North Carolina! If you're worried about predators, build strong! There are lots of great suggestions on this site. Pass up chicken wire in favor of hardware cloth. Good luck! [IMG]
